Benefits-eligible employees (.5 FTE and above) are covered from day one of employment.

Retirement benefits for classified staff

Classified staff members are enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA), the State of Colorado's pension plan. This defined benefit plan provides retirement income based on a formula considering years of service and salary history. Please note: Fort Lewis College does not contribute to Social Security.

Additionally, classified employees can access voluntary supplemental retirement options, including PERA 401(k) and 457 plans, allowing for additional retirement savings.
