Misty Sandoval, a senior studying Public Health, is making an impact at FLC. She is the youngest member of the Native LGBTQ+/Two-Spirit Advisory Council for the Southwest Indigenous Women's Coalition. She decided to go to FLC because of the Public Health program's strong reputation. 

Manna Soup Kitchen has been providing soup to the Grub Hub Food Pantry since March 2022. The delicious partnership was forged by Manna's Chef Seanan Culloty and FLC Basic Needs Coordinator Stella Zhu.

The Center of Southwest Studies hosted an event with Alexandera Houchin, a nationally renowned ultra-endurance racer. Dubbed "A Conversation with Alexandera Houchin," Houchin discussed her career as a cyclist. Houchin is the current women's overall record holder for The Colorado Trail Race.

Akuel Kot, a senior studying Sports Administration, has been playing basketball every day since the seventh grade. Kot’s dedication to the game has paid off. Standing at six-foot-two, he’s a Fort Lewis College men’s basketball team guard—and its star player.

FLC senior Cole Wilson will hike the Grand Enchantment Trail in hopes of raising $10,000 for the Grub Hub Food Pantry, which provides free, nutritious foodstuffs to students, staff, and faculty.

 

Members of Fort Lewis College’s Strategies for Ecological Education, Diversity & Sustainability Club, or SEEDS, traveled to Puerto Pe帽asco, Mexico, for a student-led study abroad experience to shed light on the ecological diversity of a destination typically known for its pineapple drinks and banana boats.

The Performing Arts Department will put on Songs for a New World, a challenging mix of 15 different set pieces worthy of 15 musicals. Written by Jason Robert Brown, Songs has been described as a song cycle, a musical revue, and an abstract musical.

Dyllon Mills (Public Health, '22) was appointed vice-chair of the Kwiyagat Community Academy school board. The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe opened KCA in September 2021, and it is Colorado's first charter school located on an Indian reservation.

Charles Hakes, a senior lecturer of Physics & Engineering, shares his stargazing knowledge of the most recognizable constellation in the night sky: Orion's Belt. The triad constellation was named after Western mythology's great hunter, who battled a scorpion sent by the gods.
