Leadership training for FLC staff and faculty
Fort Lewis College is launching a new Leadership Training Program for supervisors, department chairs, and emerging leaders. Running from September 2025 to April 2026, this program supports leadership growth in self-awareness, interpersonal skills, and alignment with FLC’s Strategic Directions.
Led by Shawna Fullington, HR Business Partner and certified professional coach, the program includes three full-day sessions and small group learning throughout the academic year.
Ideal for those guiding teams, managing projects, or shaping decisions at FLC. Self-nominations and manager nominations are welcome. This class is at capacity for the 2025-2026 Academic year. Please reach out to Shawna Fullington, scfullington@fortlewis.edu, for alternative leadership training options, more information, or questions.

Team effectiveness
This leadership development experience blends in-person sessions with purposeful small group and independent learning. Between each stage, participants will engage in peer discussions, case studies, and curated readings designed to reinforce key concepts, apply new skills, and build a collaborative learning community. These touchpoints are thoughtfully timed to align with each phase of the program:
Begin with a self-assessment and one-on-one debrief to establish a foundation of self-awareness and leadership strengths.
Build your ability to motivate and inspire others through topics such as leader mindset and behavior, effective communication, and alignment with FLC’s strategic direction.
Enhance your mentoring and support skills through inclusive leadership strategies, managing challenging conversations, giving feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
Learn how to foster team cohesion and performance through trust-building, understanding leadership styles, and collaborative practices.
